May I visit before school?
Yes! Come on in after checking in with your 1st Block teacher.
You must bring a signed agenda.
You can READ, check out books or use a computer for assignments from 8:50 am until 9:05 am.
Remember you must be back in your 1st Block class by 9:10 am for Morning Announcements.
May I visit during class time?
Yes again, as long as you have a pass that is signed by a teacher and describes the reason for your visit.
How is the Library Media Center arranged?
Materials are organized according to the Dewey Decimal System, which is the same system in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Library. You will find following sections: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Short Story, Foreign Language, Magazines, Reference, and a Teacher Collection that includes videos.
Do I need a library card?
No. Books are checked out using your name.
How do I check out a book?
Just bring your selections to the Circulation Desk and state your name to the person on duty.
How many books may I check out?
Scholars may check out as many books as they can manage responsibly.
How long may I keep a book?
Books are checked out for 4 weeks and may be renewed for an additional 4 weeks.
Is it OK to check out books that are on display?
Absolutely! That is why we put books on display.
I have overdue books, may I check out more books?
Students with one overdue item may check out one item at a time until the overdue item is returned.
Are there fines for overdue material?
No, but please return the materials as soon as you are finished.
What happens if I lose a book?
If you lose a book, you will be charged the cost of the book. Please come see me for the actual cost of the lost book.
Where do I return books?
You may return books to the "Book Return" slot in the Circulation Desk.
May I borrow magazines or newspapers?
Definitely! These are some of our most popular items. We use a special envelope for magazines and newspapers and they may be borrowed overnight.
