North Carolina Battle of the Books
The North Carolina Battle of the Books program is a fun, quiz bowl-style competition designed to encourage reading in middle school. Students will be exposed to quality literature representing a wide variety of reading levels, viewpoints, and literary styles. Its history can be traced back to a 1940s public radio program in Chicago.
Battle of the Books is open to all grade levels at JMA. Students who are interested in participating should start reading the books on this year's list and memorizing the titles/authors. Beginning immediately after the Thanksgiving holiday, students will begin meeting once a week in the Library Media Center. The district competition will be held in March.
NC Battle of the Books Program is sponsored by the North Carolina School Library Media Association.
